FAQs

We know that the hemp market can be intimidating to newcomers, with so many products to choose from and so many brands promising to offer the highest-quality formulas anywhere. At The Calm Leaf, we only carry products produced by brands that have a strong dedication to quality. The brands that we carry clearly list their ingredients, using ingredients that are not associated with any harm. Most of the products we carry contain only all-natural, plant-based formulas. The brands we work with are extremely transparent about their various manufacturing processes to prove that their quality is above standard.

All of the products we carry at The Calm Leaf have undergone a third-party testing process. This is carried out by a state-authorized laboratory. Samples of hemp are carefully analyzed for purity, potency, contaminants and other quality and safety indicators. We make all lab reports accessible on our website so customers can verify for themselves that they’re only purchasing authentic, pure and top-quality hemp.

At The Calm Leaf, we maintain a strict selection process for each and every brand that we add to our inventory. We look at how a brand sources their hemp, their third-party lab reports, the ingredients that they use, the extraction methods that they employ and more. This gives us the confidence that each product that gets into the hands of our customers is of the highest quality level possible, to ensure only the finest level of customer satisfaction. While there are hundreds of brands out there producing hemp products today, not all of them prioritize the needs of customers. Basically, we take our selection process very seriously.

We only carry products that are protected under federal law, as of the passing of the Farm Bill in 2018. Federal law clearly states that all hemp-derived products may be legally sold on the market as long as they contain a maximum of 0.3% delta 9 THC by dry weight. We strictly adhere to this federal law to ensure that every product in our inventory is fully compliant. The delta 9 THC products available on our site are also federally compliant, since none of them possess more than 0.3% delta 9 THC by dry weight.

Once your order has been shipped, you will receive an email with a tracking number. Remember, sometimes shipping progress updates can be delayed despite your product moving along. An alternative way to track your order is to log in to your Calm Leaf account and find your order, where tracking info will have been provided. This is only applicable to those who have created an account, as opposed to those who have checked out as a guest.

If you order multiple products from different brands at one time, you may receive different parts of your order at different times. Many of the products on our website are shipped directly from the manufacturer’s warehouse rather than our own. If you have purchased products from multiple brands, you will receive different packages from each manufacturer. Each manufacturer has their own shipping policy, so you may receive items multiple days apart.

If your order involves more than one package, you will receive multiple tracking numbers so that each portion of your order can be tracked independently.

It can take up to 3 business days for us to process an order before shipping, and once an order has been shipped, it can take up to 5 business days for it to arrive. Tracking will be provided so that you can follow your package’s journey. We do our best to get each order shipped as quickly as possible but note that sometimes there are delays beyond our control, such as inclement weather or a backup at a particular shipping facility.

All orders under $49.99 will be charged a $4.99 shipping fee. All orders $49.99 or over are eligible for free shipping. As for returns, all of our sales are final. We do not accept returns, as our products are personal use products that are no longer sellable once a person has opened them. If you are unhappy with your order, please contact us immediately. While we do not allow for returns, we will find a way to ensure that you are satisfied.

No, not all of the products we carry are psychoactive. The products at The Calm Leaf that produce a high are found in these categories on our website:

  • CBD + THC
  • Delta 8 THC
  • Delta 9 THC
  • Delta 10 THC
  • HHC
  • HXY-11 THC
  • THCA
  • THCB
  • THCH
  • THCP
  • THCJD
  • THCV
  • THCX

CBC, CBDA, CBD, CBG, CBG, CBN and whole-plant hemp products are non-psychoactive and will not get a person high.

You should never drive after consuming a psychoactive cannabinoid, such as those listed in bulletpoints above. Even the mildest psychoactives in the hemp plant can be mentally impairing, and this can make driving dangerous for both you and other people on the road. It remains illegal to drive under the influence of any intoxicating substance, and so even if a cannabinoid is legal in your state, driving while intoxicated by it can lead to legal consequences. Wait until the effects of the cannabinoid have worn off before getting behind the wheel.

Certain cannabinoids in the hemp plant can lead to a failed drug test if consumed in high enough concentrations. Standard drug tests, such as urine tests provided by employers, look for an enzyme called THC-COOH that is present in the urine after THC has been consumed. THC-COOH breaks down not only delta 9 THC, but all THC compounds including delta 8, delta 10, THC-P, and THCV, and there is a chance that it breaks down HHC as well. This means that if you are purchasing products that are based on any of these cannabinoids, you run the risk of failing a drug test. If you are drug-tested regularly, we recommend avoiding these cannabinoids. CBD, CBN and CBG will not result in a failed drug test, as employers do not test for them.

We offer a specific category of CBD products that are developed just for pets, as these products are formulated with the specific needs of pets in mind. Pets need specific dosage amounts and must avoid certain ingredients that may be harmful to them, which is why you should only give a CBD product to a pet if that product was made specifically for their species. You should absolutely never give a pet a psychoactive cannabinoid, as this can be extremely harmful to them. Before you give CBD to your pet, please consult your veterinarian.

Overall, none of the products that we carry at The Calm Leaf are associated with any serious side effects. Cannabinoids are nontoxic to the body but keep in mind that there’s always the risk of being allergic to another ingredient in a product, such as an essential oil used in a topical, or a flavoring ingredient used in a gummy.

Mild side effects from cannabinoids may occur in particularly sensitive individuals, especially if consumed in high serving sizes. These effects are short-lived and rarely if ever require any real medical attention, but they can occur, such as:

  • Dry mouth
  • Dry eyes
  • Dizziness/lightheadedness
  • Drowsiness
  • Reduced blood pressure
  • Increased heart rate
  • Anxiety/paranoia (more likely to occur with psychoactive cannabinoids taken in high doses)

Cannabinoids are a class of compounds found in cannabis. These compounds are distinctive in how they interact with the human body. They attach themselves to cannabinoid receptors located throughout the body, as part of the endocannabinoid system. This attachment process enables cannabinoid receptors to regulate functions of the body that play a role in homeostasis.

Cannabinoids get their effects from their ability to support each system of the body through a regulating process. Each cannabinoid offers unique effects that can play a role in how we feel, both physically and mentally. Many people find that cannabinoids in the hemp plant provide them with a sense of ease and inner balance.

Terpenes are compounds in hemp that inform the plant’s flavor and aroma, and they actually serve this function in all plant life. They also come with their own valuable effects, which is why they’re very useful to the human body. Terpenes can be found in full spectrum, broad spectrum and flower-based products, and the specific configuration of terpenes in any given breed of the hemp plant determines its strain. This is why each strain associated with hemp has its own distinctive flavor, aroma and variety of properties that affect how the user feels.

Cannabinoids have been researched for decades, with many studies dating back to the 1960s and earlier. If you wish to learn more about the effects of specific cannabinoids, you can easily find many clinical studies online. Still, some cannabinoids have been studied more intensively than others. CBD (cannabidiol) and delta 9 THC have been studied the most due to their prominence in the plant that makes them easy to isolate, combined with their popularity. Some cannabinoids have been discovered so recently that only limited studies exist, such as THC-P and HHC.

Like we said, each cannabinoid in the hemp plant offers its own exciting effects that are all useful in many ways. We encourage our customers to be open-minded and willing to experiment with different cannabinoids available at The Calm Leaf. You may be surprised by just how much one cannabinoid in particular addresses your needs better than the others.

We want hemp products to be accessible to everyone, and we also want to show our appreciation to members of society who work hard to make the world a better place. This is why we offer exclusive discount codes to healthcare workers, teachers, military personnel and veterans, first responders, senior citizens, low-income persons and disabled individuals.

At The Calm Leaf, we’re proud to say that over the years, we’ve become one of the most sought-after suppliers of all things hemp. This has led to a very fast product turnover rate, which means that products sold through our store are always extremely fresh. Freshness is very important when it comes to hemp products, as products that have been sitting for months on shelves are at high risk of degrading, and so losing both their potency and their flavor.

It’s perfectly okay to mix and match different cannabinoids – such as taking a CBD tincture in the morning and a delta 8 vape at night. If you are sensitive to psychoactive cannabinoids, know that taking two psychoactive cannabinoids within a short period of time can cause a feeling of intoxication that’s more potent than what you may be comfortable with. Overall, it’s best to try one cannabinoid at a time and get used to it before taking multiple ones together.

If you’re having trouble with a vape pen, such as a blinking light or failure to produce vapor, please contact us immediately. While “duds” are very rare, sometimes they do occur. We will be happy to accommodate you however we can to ensure that you end up with a properly functioning disposable vape pen product.

If you have a clogged vape cartridge, we recommend first making sure that the e-liquid has not crystallized. The more concentrated a hemp e-liquid, the more likely it is that crystallization will occur, which will require gentle heating through the use of a hairdryer positioned about a foot away from the device, or placing the cartridge near a heat source in your home. This same solution is useful if your cartridge is clogged due to residue that naturally occurs through the process of vaporization.

Gummies melt at about at 100 degrees, and unfortunately, we have no control over the temperatures to which gummies are exposed once they leave the warehouse. While receiving a bottle of melted gummies is extremely rare, it does occur. If you do end up with melted gummies, the best method is to place them in your freezer for an hour, and then use a knife to reportion them into bite-sized pieces.
